The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored flagship for public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affair and Sports of the Government of India. It is popularly known as NSS. The scheme was launched on Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. NSS is aimed at developing student's personality through community service, which is a voluntary. The motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU. All the youth volunteers who opt to serve the nation through the NSS led community service wear the NSS badge with pride and a sense of responsibility towards helping needy.

The Konark wheel in the NSS badge having 8 bars signifies the 24 hours of a day, reminding the wearer to be ready for the service of the nation round the clock, i.e., for 24 hours.

  • Red colour in the badge signifies energy and spirit displayed by the NSS volunteers.

  • The Blue colour signifies the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.

Benefits of Being a NSS Volunteer:  A NSS volunteer who takes part in the community service programme would either be a college level or a senior secondary level student. Being an active member these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience to be the following:

  • an accomplished social leader

  • an efficient administrator

  • a person who understands human nature

NSS officers try to inculcate team feeling, feeling of nationality, national unity and healthy competition among volunteers. Different activities and programmes, such as literacy week, youth week, communal unity week, voter awareness campaign, and environment awareness campaign are organized to make local people and villagers aware.

There are five units of NSS in our college and hundred (100) students per unit have been selected, i.e., total 500 students are participating as volunteer in NSS. There is one programme officer per unit and those are:

  3. Dr. Vijay Pratap Tiwari

  4. Dr. Santosh Kumar Pandey

  5. Dr. Madhu Pathak

Under the supervision of these five energetic program officers of the college, NSS is working on the path of continuous development. Dozens of students of NSS have participated in various programs of the Government of India, such as, National Integration camp, Adventure camp and pre Republic Day Parade. Shri Satyam Sundaram Maurya participated in republic day parade in 2018 and traveled to China under the banner of NSS in 2019 and represented college internationally. B.A. third year student Shri Vishal Kumar participated in the Republic day parade on Rajpath in year 2021 and made us feel proud. There are 40 lakh NSS volunteer all over India, out of which 200 volunteers participate in the Republic day Camp every year. Out of these 200 volunteers, only 140 volunteers participate in Rajpath Parade each year. In Year 2021 only 94 volunteers were allowed to participate in Rajpath Parade due to covid panedemic, and our college student Shri Vishal Kumar participated in that, which is a matter of pride for the college. Our Program officer Dr. Santosh Kumar Pandey illuminated the name of the college by representing two states, i.e., Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on behalf of Lucknow region at Republic Day Camp, 2021.

Thus, the National Service Scheme of our college is best in Purvanchal zone and is on the path of continuous progress at the university level, district level, state level, national level and international level.
