Our College
Raja Shri Krishna Dutt Post Graduate College is the most ancient and premier college in Jaunpur. It is popularly known as Raj College. This institute was amongst three oldest academic institutions in Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the densely populated area of the city between the Atala Mosque and the historic Royal Fort. It has about 52 well qualified professors, who are well known for their knowledge and teaching skills. Almost all of them are engaged in research work in various fields. is known for its’ innovative methods of teaching and the quality of research work. Our college is providing education in different faculties: Faculty of Science, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education (Teachers’ training) and Faculty of Commerce. Guest lectures, seminars, webinars and training courses are organized on regular basis to develop skills and train the students as per the need of the hour.
This college was founded by Raja Bal Dutt in 1841 as missionary school, who provided necessary land and fund to begin the educational institute. Thereafter, Raja Shri Krishna Dutt upgraded the institute from primary level to high school and made all recurring & non recurring expenditure available through the princely state. Raja Yadvendra Dutt established the institute in a systematic way from high school to intermediate, graduate and finally to post graduate level. It acquired the status of a Degree College in July, 1959. Late Dr. Akhilesh Chand Upadhyay was the founder principal of the degree college. The degree college got the status of Post-graduation College in 1996 after a long hard work leaded by the principal Dr. B. B. Dubey under the Guidance of the manager and president Raja Yadvendra Dutt Dubey. Raja Yadvendra Dutt used to pay salaries of employees from the royal treasury whenever it is needed. He gave a lot of land & property to college. He gave his royal guest house situated behind the royal mansion and land attached to it for setting up the faculty of Science.
This college has five major properties in various parts of Jaunpur. The main campus of the college is situated near Atala Mosque, Jaunpur, in which the faculty of Arts & Faculty of Education is running. The second main building of the college is situated in Rasmandal, Jaunpur, in which Faculty of Science & Faculty of Commerce run. The third building Raja Yadvendra Dutt Central Library situated near the ‘Hindi Bhawan’ Jaunpur, is the reservoir of books to enrich students with knowledge. Nootan Hostel and Raja Yadvendra Dutt Sports ground is situated near Bhandari Railway Station, Jaunpur. The hostel provides residing place for the boys coming from the distinct places of the country. The sports ground is used for extracurricular activities of students. Various sports are played and practiced there by students who won various matches on district, state and national levels.
Our college has a big land more than 14 acres in Dharmapur. There is a beautiful garden and an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, which is designed similarly as the Golden Temple, Amritsar.
The College is situated at the bank of Holy River Gomti. The fort of Raja Jaunpur is about 300 meters away from the main campus. The famous Atala Masque is situated in front of the college gate. The college can be reached easily as it is well connected with Rail and roads. It is only 1 Kilometer away from Jaunpur Junction and about 5 Kilometres from Jaunpur City Station. It has 1.5 Kilometers distance from the Roadways bus station.
